Deck o seal, does it stick to itself

I am going to replace my deck o seal. I will cut out the existing seal, but little bits will remain at the edges, stuck to the concrete, is this ok? Or do I need to grind any and all speaks of the old deck o seal off. Thanks.

Easy enough to give it a test in a small area and see how old and new seal meshes.
