Decided to build a pool.

Hello all, my wife and I have decided that a swimming pool is something we would like to have. We live near Sacramento CA, and our average high in the summer is roughly 90 degrees. We have a new construction home, with a smaller back yard. Our pool size will be roughly 15x30. We are looking for a builder at the moment(only received a call back from 1/6 companies called). I don’t want a crazy feature full pool, but would like a large 4-6 ft tall waterfall in one corner and a few accent waterfalls that take up one side. LED underwater pool lights are a must. Other than that, our build is pretty simple. Having never owned a pool, I don’t know what equipment is best for me. I have researched and understand that the largest cartridge filter is recommended. I’m undecided on pump size, PVC size, salt vs chlorine, automated pool controls etc. The one company I have spoken with is a u build it type, and I have been leaning that way since I started researching. I’m looking for tips on pipe size, brand and pump recommendations, and if salt is the way to go. I’m open to all opinions. My goal is a very reliable, trouble free ownership experience. Any advice is welcome.

 Welcome to TFP!!!

All those waterfalls will drive your pH up quite a bit. Consider an acid dosing stenner pump to keep the pH in check if you are going to run the features a lot.

I will not have a pool without a SWG.

Stick to major brands and you will be fine.

We lived in Folsom for 4 years and loved the area...
