Debris on bottom of pool

Yes it is a sand filter. Cya is 30, going off the work sheet yellow algae target is 19 ,for yellow algae. Because this has been so consistent and hard to get rid of I decided to FC it to death. Ps it hasn’t worked . not sure what we were seeing in the beginning. So I took a shot at the hardest to get rid of. That’s a good idea to try and capture it. But I already did in the syringe, posted pics of it one was sand the other a fluffy substance.

See if you can capture it in the backwash. Or tie a sock to the return with some string around the fitting. If it is sand, we start to look at the filter. Did you see visible algae? Has the amount decreased during SLAM?

Have you done more than one OCLT?

About the same as at the begining of the slam . The same debris on the bottom. I have a video of the fluffy substance in the syringe . I will post so maybe you can tell what this is. As I have no idea. When you vacuumed you have to do it slow as it will disappear on you, looks like dust around the vacuumed head. Can’t seem to load the video but it shows it pretty good moving in the syringe( floating ever so lightly

This morning my buddy has shown up in the deep end again. Just a small patch of the stuff in one bottom corner. The FC test we completed last night I don’t think was good. I don’t think we gave the chlorine enough time to spread out in the pool ( maybe 5 minutes) thus I think we got a false reading. It checked FC 22, this morning it checked 13. The last two mornings it’s been with-in 1ppm. So we will check it tonight again but I will make sure to give it at least 30 minutes to dispersed evenly in the pool before checking, after adding chlorine.

I followed your suggestion about the steps and removed the plastic strips. Yep just like you said there were a couple of spots the had some signs of algae. Scrubbed them clean as well as the plastic strip that’s screwed to the liner
I backwashed the filter this morning, with a little cloudiness not bad.
Saw a little debris in the bottom end.
I also scrubbed the steps and the skimmer and all the jets with the hand brush. Never felt any slick substance on floor of the pool.
Do I need to continue the slam at this point?
Expect debris to pick up last two hours of the day
