DE only coating half of grid

So I noticed my filter wasn't working properly after cleaning the filter a few weeks ago and I noticed he DE wasn't coating the full grid and there was a bunch of DE on the bottom. I released all air out of the system before putting in the DE. The grids are about 4 months old. I have attached a picture. Any help asap would be appreciated thanks!

I think the DE is coating the grids just fine, but when you drain the tank the bottom parts just drop off into the water..

Hard to tell in the pics, but it does not appear that your DE coat is very thick.

How much are you adding and how are you measuring the amount? What is your process for adding after a cleaning or backwash?

How often do you clean or backwash the filter?
