I am not a pool expert. I have an 18 x 36 built-in pool with a DE filter. I soaked the grids in muriatic acid for about three hours hose them off. Put the pool back together. Turn the pool on. Have a great pressure was about 8 to 10 now it’s feeding about 20 and little to no pressure, I keep backwashing and then the pressure goes down to about 12 and then it kicks back down my bad ??

Welcome Louie!

I think Pete is dead on. It sounds like you have an algae problem as opposed to a filter problem. Your filter is doing what it's supposed to do. When it starts getting clogged up with live or dead algae, it will begin slowing down flow and the pressure will build. The fix for that is relatively easy, but you need to arm yourself with the right tools ( Test Kits Compared). You'll need one of the recommended test kits to determine if the problem is algae, and if so you'll need to complete the SLAM Process. Take some time to go through the articles in the link below. Let us know if you have any follow up questions we can help you out with.

Just to share my experience - I typically DO NOT clean the filter until the water is "somewhat" clear when I open the pool. On my 4th day, I had the same symptoms as you described (but expected), and I simply washed the filter cartridges (just hosed as I did the muratic acid last year) - when I opened the filter, it was "GREEN" even though tons of liquid chlorine ran through it. Open up your filter and see if the filter cartridges are "reasonably" clean.
