Hi friends,

Reading "Just filled your pool with water - Here's what to do next" it says on day 1 to add 2ppm of FC. I have liquid stabilizer for cya that I plan to use on day 1 as well as 170lbs of salt for the swg. Just wondering why only 2ppm on day 1 and then day 2 follow the FC/CYA chart which will also be manually added to bring levels appropriate for swg to maintain when I turn it on.

Also, pool math says 182 oz. of LC for 80 cya. (7000 gal) would you recommend adding this full amount if opening 1st part of May in Kansas?

btw, I updated my signature, it may not show up yet

Because we typically recommend dry CYA and it takes a day or two to dissolve and circulate. Same with the liquid. Make sure your rinse the jug as many times as needed to get all the CYA out of the bottle.

Not sure where you got that. Target FC for 80CYA is 6-11. 182oz of 6% will raise FC by 13. 10% will raise FC by 20. 12.5% will raise FC by 25. Recheck your numbers.
If your CYA is 80, then add enough to raise your FC to be in range...6-11.

182 of LS will raise CYA by 75. You really want to use the entire bottle and not a portion. The CYA settles out and cakes in the bottle. Only use in 1 gallon increments.
128 oz of LS will raise your CYA by 53.
Why are you using LS? Better and cheaper to use dry chlorine stabilizer.

Thanks, I agree cheaper and will do that next time. I didn't know dry was better? I was wondering how much would be settled on the bottom, thanks for the heads up. So needing just shy of 2 more quarts, (using only1 gal of LS) should I just do the difference using dry stabilizer in a sock? I guess I could see how much the 1st bottle was caked on bottom. btw, I got Natural Chemistry liquid stabilizer 2 for $48.98.

For next time, and it can be scaled down to use socks or such for smaller doses.
