Damaged Pump fitting

The pump is only a year old and was damaged when someone decided to move it indoors for the winter. Do you think the entire housing has to be replaced? If I sand down the damaged area until it is smooth, do you think I'll be able to create a proper seal?

You have nothing to lose by giving it a test and seeing.

My pumps have stayed outside in NJ winters for 30 years, properly winterized, without any damage. I try and discourage removing equipment for the winter.

The O-ring makes the seal.

Clean up the scratches and it should be ok.
