I did a bleach SLAM (cya was 50) when I finished the slam the cya was 113! How is this possible? I realize I’ll likely need to drain the pool but I don’t want to do this again I also put in muriatic acid to lower the pH before the slam but I didn’t add anything else.
HELP please

Update: I was told when I initially tested and got 50 for my CYA I hadn’t let the pump run long enough and that when the previous owners of the pool closed it they likely had super high CYA and a top up couldn’t get on top of it. So we drain and start over I suppose. The person I spoke with said that this is happening to a lot of pools as people are using the stabilized chlorine picks for simplicity.

I would not do anything without a proper test kit. You may be dumping water when you don't need to...

A proper test kit will save you money...
