I always wondered if I was gonna Cut a completely new skimmer hole or 2 inch round hole, If you should/could take a couple pieces of repair patching ( larger than the opening you were gonna cut), and glue them to inside of pool and outside of pool??
Would that re enforce that area?
Has any one ever done that do you think

I enlarged the 2 suction ports in my new Intex pool so I could put in REAL pool bulkheads. the reinforcements that were there already were plenty strong for what I needed.

The short answer is yes, you can reinforce the new openings just as you described. I did it to my 22' Intex. I bought a ABG liner repair kit to make the reinforcements from. I cut the patches 1" over size in all dimensions the glued the on with the pool patch glue. I then cut the opening for the skimmer, and additional outlet, that way you cut through the pool and the reinforcement at the same time. I used a propane torch and old philips screw driver to cut the holes for the skimmer faceplate screws. Just heat the screwdriver and push through your marks.
