Cracks in gunite/shotcrete

OP - didn’t you start with a one builder & have Jeff from Athena come out afterwards???

Jeff, hasn’t seen the cracks he had a conversation in the phone with my PB. I may reach out again, but I don’t think he wants to get too involved as he is busy enough and this isn’t his pool. At least that’s what I’m feeling when he just did a call.

Maybe look for a geotechnical engineer that can evaluate the work.

Did the original engineer come out to inspect the work?

i don’t believe he did prior to shotcrete but I’m asking PB to have him come se what’s going on.

Just wanted to drop in for an update. First off, thank you very much for the feedback for anyone who posted a comment. This is a very good message board and I’m glad I found it.

I got a call from the executive director of ASA. Really nice guy. He referred me to an engineer in California who specializes in shotcrete and pool repair. I also met with the owner of the shotcrete company who did my pool.

After conversations with all parties, everyone acknowledges these are shrinkage cracks. And from what I’ve heard from the engineer very common especially in hot areas like Texas. The recommended fix for this is injection epoxy pressure sealed. It is a better fix I heard than just cutting out a V groove and putting epoxy on top...the injection will go all the way through the crack. Then place Membrane C over it.

So, I would not have gotten such quick feedback and response from true professionals had you all not given your feedback....so thanks again....I can sleep better knowing there was not a structural issue...most of this area is on a bed a limestone.
