Cover vs Natural Sun Heat for pool

New pool here and we had our pool installed with a motorized cover (because of all the messy pecan trees near by).

We are just approaching the warming months here in Texas, and I'm curious what the consensus is on what may be the faster way to naturally warm the pool:

1) When the pool is in direct sunlight, open the cover so that the light can shine on the water to naturally warm it. Without the cover, the lights rays can go deeper in the water.

2) Leave our Cobalt Blue colored cover closed. Because this color is slightly dark, it will naturally absorb the suns rays better, and because the cover has complete water surface contact, it will then in turn transfer the head to the water faster.

Curious what the group's opinions are on this topic for making the most of the sunlight to warm up the pool.

Awesome. Thanks. So if no wind, the sun's rays actually contacting the water will warm it faster.

Windy not only cools the water, but also just blows more of the tree "fun" into the water....hence the cover. Gotta love the pecan trees in the back yard, but Dang are they messy!!!!
