Cover off, water MUCH lower than expected

We pulled the cover off today & discovered a situation we've never had before. The water level is much lower than expected.. in fact, it's about 6-8" lower than where we drained it to close. I can see a clear algae line towards the bottom (red line on photo), a second algae line higher up (orange line), and then a 3rd line (yellow line). When we opened the valves, there were no bubbles from the main drain. When we turned the pump on, it sucked the Skimmers dry and then nothing (we immediately shut the pump off so as to not run it dry). We shut off the valve to the Skimmers & just had the main drain open, and still got nothing.

Currently, we've got the hose running into the pool to get the water level up... but aside from that, we're not sure what step we should take next.

Mine was the same way, maybe a little lower. As soon as it's warm enough, I'm going to have to get in the pool and look for a hole/tear in the liner. That's my first guess as to the cause, a very small leak.

That's what we're worried about as well. :-/ We did finally get the main drain working, but still never saw bubbles or anything. At least its pumping water.
