Cordless vacuum... does it pick up algae at the bottom?

Hi all,

Similar question to many other posts, but couldn't find my specific question. Thinking about getting a battery-operated vacuum for my 18-ft above-ground pool, so I don't have to deal with the hose and suction anymore. I don't get much for debris, leaves, etc. but tend to get algae spots at the bottom quite a bit (even with proper chlorination, etc.). I unfortunately also have a lot of divots at the bottom of the pool, where the algae tends to sit. With my suction hose I had to buy a separate smaller brush to get into the divots.

I've looked at quite a few threads and have a good idea of the better cordless brands. Would a cordless vacuum do OK with grabbing the algae at the bottom?

Thanks in advance!

+1. If you have alage, even if following the levels that work for the 99%, then your pool is telling you that you need more FC.

Sometimes it's black algae, an entirely different beast. Sometimes it's poor circulation or divots. Other times the CYA is misread because let's be honest amongst friends that the googley eye laughs at all of us. But the cure is the same. More brushing and more FC. :)

Great feedback, thanks! Sounds like a cordless vacuum is definitely the way to go. It will make it easier to brush more often. It's not a lot of algae at the bottom, it's just that I start noticing some green spots once every week or two. I'll keep a better eye on my FC/CYA levels as well.
