Coping stains. Salt deposits? Best way to remove.

I've been getting some staining and some sort of white deposits on my coping, only in the main entry/exit areas of my pool. I assume they are salt deposits from evaporated water. What's the best way to remove these stains? I've tried using a hose and stiff bristled brush but it doesn't really clean it off. Any insider tips?

Salt is water-soluble. If your deposits don't just rinse off with water -- let alone with a hose and stiff brush -- they're not salt.
