Coping- pros/cons of travertine vs stone

My pool remodel project should start next week. As you see in attached photo, I will replaster with Wet Edge Altima Blue, replace tile, concrete coping with flagstone and pebble deck with pavers. I will replace my cement deck with cement pavers, but still debate if I should use stone or travertine for coping. The stone in the photo is what I have for coping in the contract, but if i change it to 4x12x2 travertine then will add $2600 for 86 linear feet. Will it worth it to go with travertine? My concern with flagstone is the sharp edge when I have my grandkids in the pool. What are pros/cons of either? Thanks for any suggestions.

I have Texas flagstone as coping and the edge facing the pool is fairly straight and not sharp. My grandkids have handled it well. See the picture of pool/coping.
I cannot comment on the value of travertine, but I know many members enjoy it.
I also have Wet Edge; my recommendation is to go to the Wet Edge website and verify that your PB (or their subcontractor who will apply the plaster) is an authorized installer. This just ensures your warranty will be honored by Wet Edge and you can also call them to confirm.

We had Oklahoma flagstone on our last pool and I was not crazy about it. It constantly "flaked" and bits would get in the pool. It is entirely possible that it was due the the quality of the flag stone or this particular type. We have travertine on our current pool and I like it much better. IMG_4119.jpeg
