Hello everyone!

I am new to the forum and I am looking to see if anyone has had any success in running their pool pumps strictly on Solar Power. I am wanting to do so myself but want to ensure it is possible before shelling out cash on solar panels and what not. Any help is appreciated.

Current equipment:
Pump: Century Centurion B2854 1.5 HP
DE Cartridge Filters
Intermatic Timer Model PF1102T
(Not sure what other info you would need)

Thanks,

Edgar

9,

Welcome to TFP!

My wife and I lived on a blue water sailboat for 6 years. We got a significant amount of power from solar panels. So we're pretty familiar with the kind of solar system you're describing. It's going to take a lot of $ to get the panels and inverter you'll need and it will never payout with the fairly low power costs you have in Houston. I'd strongly suggest you focus on a conversion to a VS pump. The cost will pay out in a year or two.

I hope this helps.

Chris
