Running too little water can ruin the SWCG? I have more to learn still it appears.

If your salt water cell has a properly functioning flow sensor, then this is a very unlikely scenario. All of the major SWG's have integrated flow and temperature sensors to protect them from being used outside their normal operating ranges.

The SWG should have a flow switch that will shut down the unit if there isn't enough flow.
