Hi all,
I'm considering adding a pool to my home. Moved here 3 years ago and had one at my last place and sorely miss it. Any one have experience working with Cincinnati Pool and Patio, East Gate Pools, WestSide Pools?
I am think I am getting comfortable on an "L" with a sport bottom on the shallow side and diving side.
Are there any questions or gotchas that I need to be consider of when talking to contractors? I'm sure there is something that I would take for granted as common sense, but is not listed, or if something would be considered added value.
Thanks in advance.
Jay

We used Eastgate in 2018 for a 16x32 installation. We talked to 5 builders and found each one had some sort of gotcha that needed to be uncovered. 3 of them padded their estimates with thousands of dollars added to items. Eastgate was completely upfront about everything, and landed within $150 of the original quote in the end. The only "gotcha" with them was the electric - they don't subcontract any electrical work beyond pool bonding, but again they were completely upfront from the first conversation about it. They will also run the bonding wire to the equipment pad, but running the electrical service is up to you. They did offer recommendations on contractors, but in the end my retired firefighter / electrician neighbor and I handled the electric easily. Our county inspector was a huge help with the electrical stuff and took the time to answer my questions to avoid any hassles. The other thing I have since learned is I would have negotiated the price per sqft of concrete beyond the included package down from $8 to $5-6, given they were likely paying $2-3 with their concrete company. In the end I only added an additional 100 sq ft so it wasn't a huge addition to the total cost, but it's more principle for me I guess. haha.

Good luck! Now if it would only stop raining so we could enjoy (or build) our pools.
