If I want to upgrade to 1 1/2 inch hoses, do I have to go with the Hayward external skimmer? As it is now, if I use the flow reducer on one outlet to get enough suction to my Intex skimmer, the filter basket ends up half full of air. Seems like that would damage the pump over time, no?
Is there a way to keep a hang on the side skimmer but upgrade to bigger hoses? I found this plunger valve (link below), but I'm not seeing how to replace the the strainer with a hose, plus the Intex skimmer has a smaller outlet.
Everyone seems to love the Hayward, but are there any issues with the pool's water line? Does it reduce how high you can fill the pool? Is there concern about burning out the filter pump if the water drops too low in the pool?
