Hello everyone,

I have a question and anyone knowledgeable in this area please give me your opinion.

I will try to keep this brief.

The concrete contractor who is doing the pool deck is also redoing my patio.

I have 5 wooden posts from the patio cover. THe concrete guy wants to pour the concrete around the wood post.

From my understanding the cover should be braced, posts cut at new concrete level, attach new bracket, set bracket into new footing allowing room for concrete to go between bracket and footing.

Quick note that all the concrete will be poured in one day, so no bracing will be up.

Secondly- I don’t know how the county signed off on the pre deck inspection. I really can’t inagine concrete poured around wood being the “ industry standard”. I am in CA.

Having meeting with pool company and concrete guy to resolve, maybe.

I am set for sure that I won’t allow them to pour concrete around my posts.

Thanks for any input.
