Comparison of Salt Readings

Just a quick post of my experiences with different salt reading media. I have a Aquarite Sale system. The water temp is fluctuating between 68 and 54 over the last few days, so the system is still on at about 20% cycle (and even at 54 egress the system says it's generating. I expected it would say "Cold"). Anyway, here are the results of tests on two different days 3 days apart. All three tests each day used water from the same sample:

Aquarite system before and after recalibrating the salt reading: 2800ppm

AquaChek Salt Test Strips: 1700ppm

Taylor 1766 kit (drops): 2200ppm

So they're pretty consistent (vary just a little over about 5 tests in the last month or so, with these last two tests being the same). But they are consistently not the same.

Ok, your system can only use a T-15.

I suspect that the salinity is probably around 2,500.

In any case, go by the salinity reading on the box.

With the water temperature below 60 degrees, I would shut the SWG off for the winter and just use liquid chlorine until the water temperature is back over 60 degrees.

I just replaced the display board, but didn't have to replace the main board so it's still at r 1.32.

I think I will turn it off today. I can even remove the cell and replace with an old one to get it out of the sun for a few months.

Thanks for the advice

Steve
