Hello!
So what's the best wall fitting for a fiberglass wall?
I have a very slow drip in a newly-installed return wall fitting, photos attached, is there a more commercial grade that I can use?
The whole system worked fine until I pressure tested (maybe 30psi?) and after that both started a small drip and I believe it's coming from the fitting at the wall (not the threads or pipe connection).
The pool is 40,000 gallons or so, with concrete bottom and about a 2-3' fiberglass wall. I just re-piped the entire pool (black poly and schedule 80, with Hayward white goods). The old returns were metal, the new ones just seem flimsy, I think it was this: https://www.amazon.com/Hayward-SP1023-2-Inch-Fitting-Locknut/dp/B003ZTM0O2
I painted the fiberglass before I put in the return, then I put silicone around it while I was installing it. When I was tightening it the gasket kept squirting out the side so it wasn't possible to make a strong connection. I paid an online "pool consultant" for advice who said to just use the standard Hayward fitting and back off tightening to seat the gasket, but he said he never had that problem. Then I used a 3M marine adhesive sealant around the edge but still no joy, and I'd rather fix it right than start adding goo/epoxy...
Any help is appreciated!
(And - ignore the bubbles, I used some "practice PVC" to do a first run to see if the pump would run the water feature and there's a leak on one of the fittings. I'll rip it all out and put in the good stuff after this is fixed)
Thank you!!
