Hello,
I have opened my in ground, vinyl liner, 20 by 40, 33,000 gal, sand filter pool with a 1 hp Hayward pump. I have shocked it several times per the pool place test results, vacuumed, and balanced the water. I know that I need to continue to correct the water but not sure what order to do so. Pool filter has been running 24/7
Test as follows

Hardness 125
Total chlorine 5
Free chlorine 3
PH 8.4
Alkalinity 180
Cyanuric Acid 0

The pool is blue but cloudy. I have also been told to use a flocculant. I don’t want to and think I need to super shock or “slam” the pool and don’t want to burn or discolor the liner.

Welcome to TFP! Step #1 - stay out fo the pool store. Their advice, testing, and products will let you down and cost you $$$.

Instead, take charge of the pool yourself by testing at home with a proper test kit - either a TF-100/Pro Series kit or a Taylor K-2006C. That really is Step #1. See the link in my signature.

With proper testing, you can clear the water via the SLAM Process. Until that time, simply add 1 gallon of liquid chlorine to the water each day. Add nothing else and certainly no floc or clarifiers. Liquid chlorine is the best sanitizer.

Be sure to book mark our Pool Care Basics page and take note of the article about Test Kits Compared. :goodjob:
