Cloudy Pool

Hi there I am new to owning a pool. It's a above ground pool 12 x18 in diameter. After a recent rain, the pool water started to turn cloud. I have been using Clorox app and test strip to test water level. Total along I tested it for 4 time and each time I got slightly different readings. One thing that is consistent is Chlorine level is high. I have attached 2 test results, with one that says total Chlorine =10 being the latest. These two were taken couple hours apart and I have not mixed any Chem.

Appreciate the advise in how to lower it and get rid of cloudy water.

Welcome to TFP!

A cloudy pool could be an issue with filtering or a pool chemistry issue, but it usually means algae. You'll need to complete an Overnight Chlorine Loss Test to rule out or confirm the presence of algae. If you fail, then you need to complete the SLAM Process. Test strips will not help to diagnose and cure the problem. You need a TFP recommended test kit capable of providing accurate and consistent results (Test Kits Compared). The kits from TFtestkits.net provide the best value for the backyard pool owner.

Until you get reliable test results, add approximately 4 ppm of FC daily.

Here are a set of articles to get you started.
