If you're in that much of a hurry I'd say the fastest fix is going to be a drain and refill. Except that in Houston you have to be cautious of the ground water because you don't want to experience it floating the pool upwards.

That Clorox test strip is a joke. You need accuracy and that's what the TF-100 gives you.

Go stock up on Liquid Chlorine. If you go to Walmart chec in the pool section for their Pool Essentials 10% liquid chlorine. Or you can find some at Lowes and HD. NO granular or puck products. please.
