Closing ABG pool

Stillwater, ok.
My pool is still up in Central Ok.
It’s been unbelievably warm.
I have never closed the pool this late.
Waiting until the water temp is consistently around 55 degrees.
My question(s) are:
- do I need to put in liquid chlorine at shock level to close?
I was told the chlorine is in ineffective at this temp. algae cannot grow in this temp.
- how long does it take the tank to drain?
Don’t want it to crack should I not allow suffice time before a freeze hit.
-do I need to put liquid chlorine in much slower due to the water temperature?
Since cold water is denser than warmer water.
Thank you

Yes

I was told the chlorine is in ineffective at this temp. algae cannot grow in this temp.
Algae can grow just at a slower pace and it's needed so when the water warms up hopefully there will be some residual FC.

What tank are we talking about

do I need to put liquid chlorine in much slower due to the water temperature?
Winter uses very little FC so a little goes a longer way. Testing at these temperatures will give you an idea of when it needs more.
