Hello,
I bought new hot tub and decided to use the copper-based Cleanwater blue system. I follow the directions very strictly (except not adding any chlorine which is recommended) and the water after few days becomes greenish... I have already drained the spa few times within 2 months of using it due to the problem.
I use PMS shock after each use and that makes me wonder if it does react with the copper although the producer claims it doesn't. That would explain the greenish (oxidized copper) color.
From the beginning, I have seen weird measurements when it comes to pH and TA. Per the WaterClean strips - everything is in range, but per the test where You take sample and add drops of different solutions to measure how much TA and what is pH - the pH seems to be too high (close to pH7.8 while the TA seems to be too low (50-60ppm). One test tells me add acid to reduce pH, the other add base to increase TA. I read the TA is more important and that will keep the pH balances, in a right range.
I also read not to adjust the pH after adding chemicals (like PMS)... at the end of the day - the pH measured in the spa is the one currently present so if it's off, I believe it is a problem. How it be the same as set up at the beginning while the measurement shows different value? confused...
Please advice how make sparkling clear water.
Thank You!
