I have an automatic cover which is recessed in a vault. Given my need to RESLAM I am going to give the top of the cover a good once over with a mild detergent and scrub, as well as clean out the vault of physical debris and scrub it down with some bleach.

I'm just not sure how to tackle the bottom of the cover or if it's possible? At the current time I have been putting it on overnight with SLAM level water and hoping that will at least take care of some of it, would that be sufficient? Any other ideas, thoughts or strategies others have utilized?

I just went through the same issue as you. I had cloudy water on a Friday afternoon which was clear by evening. I spent a week at slam levels and still had high chlorine usage. As a last ditch effort, I checked the main drains, which were pristine. We then cleaned the top with a hose first to get rid of the dirt and then washed it down with a mild bleach mixture (a half capful into a 5 gallon bucket). I also put new cartridge filters in. I'm not sure if it was the cover or the filters but everything was back to normal after that. I also closed the cover each evening during the slam.
