Cleaning mortar stains on a liner

We recently replaced our coping and pavers on a pool with a new black liner. The mason wasn’t very careful with the mortar and I’m left with staining on the liner where they reset the bluestone coping. What will be the best way to clean this? I’ve seen a vinegar mixture recommended, but the tried and true method for removing it from bricks is muriatic or hydrochloride acid. Is this an option on a pool liner?

Welcome to TFP.

It is difficult to say since there is so much variety in liner printing and ink quality.

You really have to try any cleaning method in a small area and see how it affects the liner.

A liner can handle diluted muriatic acid but low pH can cause liner wrinkling.

Did you save any of the liner cutouts to be used for patches in the future that you can test on?

That would’ve been great, although I can run by the shop that we purchased it and had it installed be and see if the can give us a sample. Thank you.
