Circupool Core Control 55 Initial Thoughts

Great reviews and input from all.

I am looking into this system to replace my old Jandy Aquapure Ei35. I have emailed Circupool to request an owner's manual so I can examine the wiring diagram. My current setup has a Jandy 2.0 VS E-pum with a JEP-R controller running the pump, and the SWG turns on via flow through the cell. The SWG is wired directly into a breaker in the panel.

How does the install compare? Reading some of the info above, it looks like I would be doing the same as Capnswab, wiring into the aux on the pump. I am just wanting to make sure I completely understand the install before moving forward.

Also how big is the wall mount controller? After 7 years of my Jandy being in the sun the controller cover has dry rotted. Would a larger waterproof enclosure be a bad idea? Something like this? I was thinking if I went this route, I could drill holes in the side and bottom of the box to promote airflow.

I think it’s like a 13” or 14” square more or less. Wiring into the aux relay on the pump was really straight forward. The control box has vents on the top and sides, so I don’t know that I’d want to completely box it in.

I wouldn’t put an additional box on it. It’s got a pretty good sized heat sink on the back that needs airflow.

Manual attached.

Mine is wired to the timer circuit, which is always on now, so it’s always on and relies on the flow switch for protection. Not worried about it because the flow switch is built into the cell itself, meaning you replace it when you replace the cell. I’m comfortable with that planned service life. It was a consideration when I bought it.

Arrived today and plan to install this weekend. Just out of curiosity, did yours arrive all wired up? With a 110v plug and ifi module already wired into the controller?
Yessir.

Do yourself a favor and plug it into 110v inside your house just to make sure the front panel lights up. If so, good to go.

All hooked up. I had to rewire the old wiring, add a 20 AMP breaker along with a 110 outlet. Then I rerouted some plumbing to complete the job. 100% up and running once power was put to it. Just under 4 hours, which included tearing apart the cartridge filter, cleaning the 4 cartridges, and putting it back together. There were a lot of breaks and distractions as well. I can see how this can be hooked up in about an hour or so, if everything is already prepped and little modification is needed.

i have the core-control 55 being installed Thursday this week along with a heater and new VS Circupool smartflo pump.

What i dont get is why on circupool can i find nothing on the core control 55? Also shocked there are no posted videos on it yet....are there only a small handful in the wild at this point?

Pentair's new model sure is. Its been out for a month or two and Google searches either pull up the old one, or the new one at mostly unheard of retailers.

$3k on sale for $2500 ?????? Have they lost their minds ? The RJ60+ puts out 50% more FC and is $1800.
They have it buried on their website. With it being so new, I think they have just failed to update the site.
I found some new Pentairs similar yesterday. I think they are trying to get rid of the old models first. Most customers wouldn't know the difference.

Capacity: 55000 gallons max
Suggested sizing: up to 45000 gallons (northern climate), 40000 gallons (southern climate)

Yeah - not for $2500 just to add wifi control to the SWG.
I'll stick to my RJ series SWG.

Interesting. I didn’t pay anywhere near that much.
Agreed I think I was under 2k when combining with a pump. Im looking forward to the automation that it'll include with the expanded platform..I don't have pool automation today. Im desperate for being able to monitor the pump if possible. What's happening now with the heater is if flow isn't high enough heater turns off. So for example I just took apart and cleaned my de filter. Added fresh de. Pool is spotless and solar cover is on it. Left the house for dinner with pump set to 1800 rpms...heater ran for an hour. At dinner I saw it stopped flowing.....so had to go home and now increase to 2000 rpms and heaters on again...

Wish I could control all of this remotely

Every year they spike as the season gets going. I was thisclose to picking up my next SWG at $500 off with the pre season sale. I don't know how many years it has left on it but I am 1000% sure they won't be $1300 at that time, not even on sale.

DSP, naturally, has to jack theirs to $3k so it can still be on sale.

i'm two days into using the core control unit... the app is very lackluster at the moment. There's a pool cover option that just stays open...no way to adjjust or edit, just annoys me. i know it will expand as the automation system expands but for right now all it will show you is if it's on and what the output is. you can adjust the output and click turbo but for now that's about it.
