Hi,
My husband opened up our pool approx 3 weeks. At that time, I just assumed he only turned the pump on, as it has still been cold here. So we hadnt turned on the heat yet. I didnt realize our aquapure system was going at 50% (SWG). Yesterday we decided to turn the heat on and get things ready to possibly swim this weekend. Later in the day I decided to check the pool chemicals, now that the pool temperature was warming up. We use TFT100. Discovered our FC was 25!! Because of this Im assuming that's why our ph was also sky high (above 8.2, unable to read higher than that). CYA approx 55, TA 95, CC 0.5.
My question is this: Is it ok, to just leave the pool cover open and let this number drift down over the next week? Or should I be working more urgently to drain half the pool and refill? The weather is going to be cloudy/rainy today, then tomorrow should have more sun. Either way Im assuming this is going to take days to correct.... I'm worried about the high effects the chlorine will have on our liner and equipment. I understand the high chlorine can stretch and wrinkle the liner. We replaced our liner two years and I don't want to have to replace prematurely if I don't have to. I would appreciate any of your suggestions or reassurance you may have for me.

Thanks!
BK

There is nothing to worry about and you could even still swim since you are below the SLAM levels. Just let it drift down to your target of 4-5 over the next couple of days.

Also, your pH reading is inaccurate when FC is > 10 so do not make any adjustments to your pH until your FC gets less than 10 and you can get a good reading.

Ok, thank you very much! Appreciate your prompt response (and reassurance)!
