Last year I had CC and ended up doing a drain. This year I cleaned my water which was clean at opening and still had 7 FC. I did SLAM for insurance and passed the OCLT earlier last week. I had all my levels back normal and closed the auto for a few days. I opened it a couple days agai and the water has a clean/light sweet chlorine smell. Doesn’t seem to be the same smell as the dirty one I had last time. I’m just confused. Water is spotless. I tested the water

PH 7.5
FC 7.5
CC 0
CYA 30

Kind of confused since I have no CC.

Also I turned the salt cell off last night and past the OCLT.

While your testing didn't raise any alarms, perhaps it could be attributable to residuals being trapped under the cover. I generally recommend opening the cover for an hour or so every 2-3 days two just to let the pool breathe and let the sun hit the water to help with oxidation.

The sweet chlorine smell is perfectly normal. CC is an often misunderstood parameter and is only an indicator to help you interpret the health of your water.........What are you confused about? Your description indicates very nice water.

Did a little more research and I’m thinking the smell I have is from the pool anti freeze. I know it was blown into the pool at opening and then I SLAMed for insurance. Like I said I have no excess chlorine demand and clear water. It’s looking like this goes away with time????
