Well guys I did the sock method… well for me it was the mesh bag, wrapped in an old tee shirt after it split, then placed in an old pillowcase inside a mesh strainer net hung from a pool brush bungee corded to various areas of my pool ladder method.

. Oh how strange the neighbors must find me. Between witnessing the creation of that apparatus and seeing me (donning my stylish nose plug and goofy goggles) with my head under the water for no less than an hour trying to sweep my pool with a Venturi vac yesterday, I’m surprised I haven’t been carted off to the loonie bin yet. I was about to make a snorkel out of pvc pipe but I figured that might be the point of no return.

At any rate, I added a bit more chlorine last night while the cya sock was dancing in the moonlight. I checked it just a bit ago and it was nearly all dissolved. Squeezed and swished a bit and, voila! My puppy had a field day barking at the end of the pool brush as it seemingly sprung to life before her eyes. What a goofy grape. Can’t wait to swim with her! (As I look over now she is attempting tirelessly to get on our hammock. What is this?)
I’m going to test my regular chemicals and fingers crossed I’ll make that chlorine breakthrough today? I’ve read that the cya make take a few days to register, and I’ve only enough reagent left for one more test, so I’m guessing I should wait til the weekend to test that. I’m so antsy though! I want to know right now!
This pool chemistry stuff is so interesting and I feel like I’m developing the strange odd passion that I’ve discovered for lawn care. Oh if 21 year old lip-ring, rock band me only new how cool I was actually bound to become… she’d be jealous.
Thank you all for your help and amusing me by reading my ramblings! I appreciate this community so much already!
