The water isn’t crystal clear yet but it’ll get there. And my ta is slowly coming down just threw a fountain on it to see if I can increase the ph faster. I only lost 1.4 ppm of fc in 24 hours. Everything is getting better. I told my wife I removed the chlorine pak and mineral pak from the frog and I’m trying to explain to her it’s much easier when you know EXACLTY what’s going in the pool. Y’all have been so great!!You'll recoup the cost just by the savings you'll get doing things the TFP way.
Consider your cya as "40" because we don't recognize any halfway numbers, the logarithmic scale it follows doesn't work like a linear scale.
I bet the kids are enjoying that big honkin' pool!

If u think something is brewing- (which is possible if u had time below minimum for your cya or below 2ppm when u had no cya)-The water isn’t crystal clear yet
I’ve read high TA numbers can water to be cloudy, is that true? The water isn’t “cloudy” by any means. It’s clear just not crystal clear. I don’t think anything is brewing, these were my numbers this afternoonIf u think something is brewing- (which is possible if u had time below minimum for your cya or below 2ppm when u had no cya)-
do an Overnight Chlorine Loss Test to rule out organics.
* If u pass - proceed with maintaining targetfc levels for your cya
* If u fail - SLAM Process
I used pea gravel.Looks tfp clear to me!
Quick question…
Did u fill the cylinder in the steps with sand?
I went with sand & dry concrete in sealed containers (country time lemonade jars w/ duct tape) for that cylinder & i have 4 bleach jugs filled w/ sand & concrete capped w/ duct tape under the lids hanging from the inside of the steps by a rope. Mine are also secured to the deck.I used pea gravel.
We are starting on the deck this weekend. It’ll take a couple weekends to complete but it’ll be nice once done.
The weight isn’t really enough to keep it from floating around. I’ve read that people even put 100# or more of material and they still float.
I’ll probably pull them and do this! I lift the steps & put the jugs under there then fish the rope through the back holes, pull up & tie it. I am still able to move them but they don’t float away. Then I secure the handrail to the deck. In the winter i just remove the handrail & leave the jugs on the top of the steps.

I scrub them at the beginning & end of the season. I also drilled ALOT more holes in them around the bottom to prevent algae by allowing more water flow & places i can shove the water hose or a bottle brush to get to the “crannies”. It was trial & error: get algae, slam, scrub steps, drill more holes, seal the sand in the cylinder . I did several rounds of this before I got enough holes in them. Especially around the feet. I wish I would have done them all at first.
