Changes to plumbing above ground pool - thoughts/guidance would be welcomed!

How would I have the valve set if I want the heater to be included? If the handle is twisted so it is over the top of the "bypass" and the "off" is facing the non-piped side of the valve... There is flow from the filter, the bypass is open, AND the heater is open. How do I close the bypass? Otherwise half the water would go to the pool without being heated? I am obviously not sharp enough to understand how this works. But I do apprey your patience and assistance to get me going.

move the off to #2... That puts all the flow through the heater :)

I'll post a video on a little bit. But it's not possible to get the off to #2. It only goes to #1, #3 and the opposite side of #2. So in that position all three lines are fully open.

If I unscrew the middle part, and pull the handle off, it only connects one way due to the size of the slots in the valve and the handle.

I told you I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed. I apologize.

ahhh, I forgot to mention how to make that work.... I did mine 9 years ago.. take the handle off and you will see the little "tab" that stops the valve from moving 360 degrees... cut that little tab off with a pair of snipers and it will work then :)

1 word of ****CAUTION **** if you leave it in the # 2 position it will burn out your motor as no water will get through. It works perfect for cleaning the filter and closing for the winter..

Thanks for this. I will go grab the valve out of the box and look at it again.

As for the caution statement above - #2 that if in that position (once i fix the above) it would have the water flow from the filter to the heater. I assume you mean #1 - as if i close the water from the filter - then obviously the pump is doing a BUNCH of work and no water flow is able to occur. I would only ever set the 'off' to position one when cleaning the filter cartridge basically. In the winter i will take each part apart and dry store everything in a shed (mid-west winters won't do it any favors).

I kill myself.. I should have looked at the diagram again... should have been #1 for caution statement... :)

#2 makes it go through the heater
