cavitation in returns

I've noticed this year that I seem to be getting some minor cavitation in my returns (ie the stream is full of small bubbles). I only recall that happening last year when I put the pump on 100% skimmer while vacuuming the pool, the rest of the time was none. It's not enough to make me worry, but was wondering if anyone knows what might be causing that year over year

That would not be cavitation even if it were a pump problem. Cavitation only occurs inside the pump impeller housing and is actually boiling water due to water flow restriction.

The most likely cause for your small bubbles is your SWG. SWGs emit small bubbles during operation that will show up in the return closest to the pump, sometimes in the two closest. Ypu will notice that the bubbles stop when the cell isnt generating chlorine.
