I'm a seasoned pool owner, never any problems with chemistry for 19 years thanks to this forum and another one. Opened pool beginning of May, kept losing the prime, after 6 visits and the pool not filtering for weeks, the pool company replaced the multiport and all is good. The problem is the mustard algae that came from not running the pool. For over a week I keep adding pounds of 73 percent Cal-Hypo (Leslie's Power Powder Plus) with only able to get my FC to 19.5. I use the Taylor K2006 salt test kit, here are my results tonight:
FC 19.5 Pool store yesterday- FC 19, TC 19
pH 7.8 pH 7.7
Total Alkalinity 150 Total alkalinity 118
Calcium Hardness 360 Calcium Hardness 376
CYA 30 CYA 35
Salt 3200 Salt 2867
I put in 7 lbs. of cal-hypo last night and the FC raised .5. from the day before reading of 19. On 6/14 I added 4 lbs of shock and raised it to 20, the next day, added 4 more lbs. and it went down to FC 17.5 I have literally gone through 3 boxes each with 12 lbs. in a few weeks. I know the CYA should be higher, but thought I had to get the FC up first. Pool always runs high in pH, put in muriatic acid last week. The second column of numbers are from the pool company yesterday. Any help would be most appreciated as I'm about to lose it and am at the end of my rope. Thank you!
