Can't get PH down to SLAM

My ph is over 8 and I have followed the recommended amount of Muriatic Acid with no success. I have checked the expiration date on my chemicals and reagents which are all fine. Since the testing kit only reads a ph up to 8 I have no idea exactly how high it was so I started treating for ph of 8 and when that didn't work I added more. I have added 3 quarts of acid so far and still can't get it below 8. Please advise.

One possibility is your FC is over 10 in which case you cannot accurately measure your pH.

Post your own pool water test results (no pool store testing) and include:

FC free chlorine
CC combined chlorine
pH
TA total alkalinity
CYA cyanuric adic
CH calcium hardness
