Can you turn a 36x16 above ground steel wall pool into a 32x16?

Having troubles helping my neighbours find a 36x16 liner , so we’re thinking of taking 4 feet off to turn it into a 32x16 to a more popular size. The only set back I think would be the metal wall joining system, . This one has the hidden joint where you use a bar on the back side and use a hammer to hit down on it to keep them pinched together. Other than that , it would seem you just need to take out a set of the side braces and pull the end in closer. Possible to pull this off ? Thanks for any ideas.

Maybe I am not understanding but I was able to find a few places that had 36x16? Maybe it is to specific manufacturer/brand of the pool (sorry I'm more of an Intex guy)? Maybe you can let us know make/brand, etc and see if someone already has been down this road...

These guys will make you almost anything you need.

You would not only have to modify the wall, but the bottom track and the top rails. Your upright spacing is also going to be wonky.

Plus you better get that measurement correct. You have rounded ends. The radius of a 32 foot pool is not the same as a 36 foot pool. You are not just removing 4' of wall from each long side. if you do that, your new liner is not going to fit.

Like @CT-Steven said,, better to just find a liner that fits. I have ordered things (not liners) from the site that he listed (Doheny's) and they are a good company to deal with.

Well , we went for it. We pulled a straight section out of each side , carried the complete arc/radius up to the next straight peace. Cut a portion out of the steel wall, and then overlapped the rest . Self tapping screws and into a steel angle iron. Taped up some light foam to the screw heads . They now got a liner for $600 and they been swimming for almost a week now . Wasn’t sure it would work but …. IT DID !
