Hello,
Newer pool owner here. Currently have chlorine pool. I have been using Calc Hypo and we accidentally purchased Sod Dichloro. I am wondering if it is safe to switch types of chlorine?? Or how is the safest way to do this properly? Also, I was thinking of purchasing a cheap chlorine dispense float for when we go away on vacation and I think these pucks are yet another type of chlorine (Trichlor). Is it safe to use that? I'm hoping to switch to SWG soon but don't know if it will be installed prior to vacation.

Random.... I was reading on the site about Sod Dichloro and it raises the CYA which is good because our is a bit low.
Thank you!

You want to be careful to never mix Cal-Hypo with other forms of chlorine items such as TriChlor or Dichlor. It can cause a violet reaction in a confined space. When a switch needs to be made, ensure the device holding the product (floater, tab feeder, etc) is completely purged of the previous product.

Trichlor and Dichlor products are typically stabilized products, so yes, they can increase the CYA a but with each tablet or bag of product. The TFP PoolMath APP can help assist you with the anticipated increase of either FC or CYA with any given product. Hope that helps.

You can use both types of chlorine...BUT NOT IN THE SAME CHLORINATOR OR FLOAT.
