Can I use any glass tile for waterline

Hi,
I am looking to replace the waterline tile in my pool as well as pool edge tiles. I have been told that regular porecelain tiles can not be used in pool as they need to be chemical resistant. Is this true for glass tiles as well.

You can -- just be aware that the waterline will/can collect a scum line from lotions, hair products, etc, and it also can collect an evaporite scale depending on your water chemistry and atmospheric conditions.

I was at home&decore today to look for a waterline tile too. Each tile has a specific information if it’s good for pool, wall, floor etc. So I would recommend to check this specific tile at the store if they recommend it for pool too.

Just to revist this topic, my builder told me I could look at floor and decor which makes me a little more hesitant. I will have a salt pool, anything to be concerned about?

It has to be freeze and thaw rated for submerged applications...

In many cases, yes but it will depend on the exact product line and tile size. Please see the “Recommended Applications Chart” and our “Pool & Water Feature Installation” document. Please note: Tiles with any edge longer than 5” or trim tile with any edge longer than 2.5” are not recommended for use in pools and water features.

Over the life of the tile, your pH has the capacity to have a bigger impact than the salt as far as being corrosive. At somewhere between 3000-3500ppm salt, you're still only at half the natural salinity of the human eye and 1/10th that of ocean saltwater.
