Can I swim on my pool while I have a mesh bag dissolving CYA?

Hi,

Our weather is very nice but I needed to add some CYA to my pool. I placed a mesh bag close to my return jet. CYA is dissolving but it is quite slow. Can we swim while this is happening? At this rate it might take a couple of days and the weather is nice.

Yes.

In 20 years we’ve never had an issue.

Yes, safe to swim. And after a few hours you may find that the CYA has softened enough that you can easily squeeze it out through the mesh.

You can wait 15 minutes after acid and/or liquid chlorine. Pump on. Brush the pool if you want to get in sooner.

Generally speaking, I would wait 15 minutes or so after adding chemicals (pump on of course).

Of all the Recommended Pool Chemicals, only muriatic acid would concern me. I'd probably wait 15 minutes after adding it before swimming.
