Calimar 3HP VS installation: are inlet/outlet threaded? Use thread seal /tape, or just dry?

New 3HP calimar arrives tomorrow and I'm looking for install advice. Are the inlet and outlet of the pump housing 2" threaded? Or slip fit? I'll be adding threaded unions where I have to tie in to existing plumbing (as I've done for other equipment). Is it recommended to use thread seal or thread tape (i.e. vinyl tape), or just put them together dry? I've always done dry for no real reason - I guess I assumed the rubber o-ring kept things water tight, and I'm not sure if the sealant/tape is designed for that or to keep from backing out.
TIA.

Yes, they are threaded.

Best option is something like this

I did try tape/dope and I couldn't get a good, leak-free seal. The inserts with the o-rings worked first time, no leaks. Haven't had any issues with them backing out.

No tape or dope needed. Just use pool lube on the O-rings and seals.

There might be better/cheaper options, but I used :

Aquatop O-Ring Lubricant

The little tiny pot has done multiple seals - water filters in the house, O-ring on the pool-pump top filter, unions, etc etc

Ahh, perfect. And with next day delivery! Rock and roll! Still on schedule. Pump went out on Saturday and I've got a kids pool party this weekend. Fingers crossed that I'll have it all back up and running (and not inundated with an algae bloom) by Saturday.
