calcium doesnt seem to improve

i have a pool where the calcium doesn't seem to improve week over week. got to update my signature as i have a new home with a different pool.

gunite pool 17k volume SWG

last week calcium was 60, i added 20 pounds of calcium. 5 days later CH was 65, callimg for another 20 pounds to be added.

does this seem normal? pool wasnt really taken care of for a year so calcium probably never added.

Something doesn't add up. 20 lbs should increase yoru CH by about 125. Are you still using the TF-100? Reagents aren't too old are they? Any chance you have a leak which would result in CH loss? You would know because salt would be dropping as well.

yes same test kit. i just bought a new bag from the pool store this week, so that one shouldn't be too old. salt levels are good and its a rather newer build so don't think there would be a leak.

Let’s start with the basics. Did you fill the test vial to TEN (10) ml? Or are you filling to 25 ml? I’ve used the wrong sample amount before, and it obviously throws off the test results.

You say you added calcium. What is the exact name of what you added?
