Calcium Deposits on Tile

I have a 18K gal in-ground spa/pool - built 2 years ago in SW FL - and under normal pool operation the raised spa spills into the pool at a slow rate (maybe 1/8"). Is it normal for calcium deposits (at least that's what I guess it is) to form on the spillover wall tile?

I'm not sure it matters, but it's a 2' drop to the pool across about 8' wide. The calcium only seems to deposit in a few places (where the water flows) and in a worse case time frame, can rise about 1/4" from the tile surface.

I periodically scrub it with pumice stone when I notice it. Any idea if this is normal? Are there better ways to address the calcium?
