Hello all,

I'm currently performing SLAM. I started the process with liquid chlorine and the amounts given by Pool math. I'm curious if I could use Cal-Hypo to maintain FC levels until SLAM is complete? Mainly because I have like 12x 1lb bags of cal-hypo left.

My current CH level is 120ppm

Dont do it! Excess calcium can sometimes cause cloudyness. Search for some threads on that.

I’ve read that cal hypo can cause cloudiness, but I was in your same situation about a month ago. I also had multiple bags of cal-hypo that were given to me by my pool builder. I used three bags to help get me to slam level and used liquid chlorine to maintain my Slam. I didn’t notice any cloudiness, but my algae level wasn’t bad when I started my slam either. When I started, I just had some dead algae and failed an Oclt. Not a recommendation and your mileage may vary.
