Buying pucks

My CYA has dipped below 20 and I'll be spending some time away from the house during the summer, so I'm thinking it might be good time to leverage some pucks in the floater.

I'm thinking dichlor makes more sense since I want to add CYA?

Any advice on brand or type?

Also, regarding use of the floater itself: all floating objects in my pool quickly make their way to the skimmer door, or in the case of the floater, against the stainless ladder next to the skimmer. Is that a problem?

Pucks are trichlor. They'll add CYA, too. Avoid the multi-purpose pucks. They have all sorts of unwanted stuff in them, especially copper. Check the ingredients.

I stopped tethering my floater but left the mason's line string on it. It acts as a drag and slows its drift. It does move around the pool. The only place it sticks is under the spa overflow. Once the pump goes off, it moves away with the breeze.
