Looks like that screw was torqued too tight. As long as the O-ring inside is still intact and seated, I'm not sure that would even leak. Might as well give it a shot; it won't hurt anything. If you disassemble the valve, should should be able to see if the crack is just on the edge or if it continues into the body of the valve.
