Brown stains in pool

Since controlling my own chemistry, this has to be the best year I've had with my pool in 8.5 years of homeownership. I've noticed two brown stains on the bottom of the pool, they clearly look like iron stains (about the size of a quarter each). They are on the transition between the shallow and deep end. There isn't wide spread staining on the pool, and it was filled with municipal water. I'm thinking they were caused by Irma throwing something metallic (nail, screw, etc) in the pool and our cleaner eventually got it out. I am planning on jumping in with a few vitamin C tablets and removing them before using metal sequesterant. Any thoughts?

We got the pool resurfaced about a year ago, when they blew off the nasty fibre-tech surface, there was no re-bar showing. I figure it has to be something from Irma. I spent a week getting all of the wind blown junk off the bottom of the pool.

No need to jump in. Just put the tablets in a nylon, weight it down with some stones and use the skimmer pole to position them over the stains. Let them sit for 15mins or so then pull them up.

Saves you a chilly dip unless you happen to have a wetsuit and some snorkel gear you’re dying to use....there are spot etching tools you can buy on amazon but it’s not worth it for a one-off treatment.
