I was stupidly digging a post hole around my pool and broke a pipe. I plugged my skimmer and return lines but water is still coming out so I assume it is through the main drain. Is there any way to temporarily plug the main drain or broken pipe? Also who should I call? My pool guy is busy and i’m waiting to hear back from a plumber. Sorry i’m a bit frantic.

Plumber said they can come out in a couple hours, so I think I’ll be okay.

The plumber should be able to repair an obvious break like that. Water is flowing out because the break in the pipe is below the current waterline. If you had a way to isolate (close) that specific PVC line, it should stop.
Turns out it was an irrigation pipe which also had cable running right next to it. Water stopped flowing when we shut off the water main. No idea why irrigation pipe is running so close to my pool considering I have no sprinklers in this area. Call before you dig folks.
